I am running for Island County Commissioner Dist 3, to bring the people’s perspective back to the county seat.
Americans deserve accountability and a leaner government that prioritizes upholding the Constitution and serving its citizens. We must start at the local level!

Rural life and Economy
When I first moved to Whidbey island in the mid 90's we saw very few if any homeless people. But since roughly the 2009/10 timeframe it has grown and gotten worse on a yearly if not monthly basis. There are many reasons for this and yet no magic pill to fix the problem.
I believe we need to have the compassion to put programs in place to help these people up and push them back into the productive population. Free handouts with no expectation only exasperate the problem inviting more issues and homelessness.
We have the responsibility to require a result or send them away. Their choice. If you want what we offer to help you get back on your feet then you need to participate in the program. County parks cleanup, roadside cleanup, minor building maintenance, and janitorial work, etc all need to be done here in Island county. If I have to be drug-free to work, you have to be drug-free for help! If I have to work to have a roof and food then you have to. If you do not want that then you will be asked to move on. If you are willing to participate you will be raised up.
Why do the majority of Island County residents go off-island for healthcare? Why is it so hard for our healthcare system to find and keep good doctors, nurses, and other professionals?
The disastrous federal and state policies of recent times have proven themselves to crush small rural communities like ours.
We should be able to create an environment where healthcare providers can operate and be effective right here in Island County.
We have the need and we have the resources we just need the will and the direction of common sense, no political agenda, get it done type of people!
The cost of living here in Island County has increased exponentially in the last 10 years, the cost of food, energy, and other basics continues to put a strain on our community. Our roadside and community farms are under attack from left-leaning bureaucrats, our schools and learning institutions are being corrupted by the big city, state, and federal regulations that don't fit our rural lifestyles and beliefs. The cost of housing has become so cumbersome many of the people who have spent their whole lives here (like my children) can no longer afford to live here. I will work with local communities like Oak Harbor, Coupeville, Langley, Clinton, and Camano to find ways to increase the available housing and work to make it affordable to live here again. I will work with the local farms and businesses to reduce onerous permitting and regulation that stifles their ability to help our community be affordable, safe, clean, and responsible.
We need to understand that Island, County is also home to the greatest most community-minded Navel base in America and the unique issues and advantages that it presents. I have been in or working with the military my entire life, with that I understand the special circumstances we face with a large military presence. I can and will work with NAS Whidbey Island and the Navy to foster a better more sustainable and safe rural economy and community here in Island County.
Law & Order
Our nation was founded on principles of freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness among other paramount issues. To achieve these things, society must have law and order. We have recently seen the descent of law and order in the riots, looting, burning, assault, and destruction across the country including our own state of WA.
Part of Seattle was taken over by a group of anarchists, renaming a section in the Capitol Hill area, calling it CHAZ or CHOP. The police were told to abandon their precinct and not to enter this zone. Rapes, theft, assault, and murders took place during this siege, and the Democrat leadership that has run Washington state and Seattle for decades approved as their Mayor called it “The Summer of Love”. This same style of governing has made its way to Island County and we need to resist it with every fiber of our being.
Ask yourself, is this the America I want to live in? Is this the America I want my kids to inherit from me? The commonality of these cities is they are all run by far left-leaning Liberal leadership and have been for years. Have you heard any of them make a call to stop the riots and destruction? No. They call these “peaceful protests”.
Silence from the moderate and mostly patriotic Democrats on the dismantling of society through chaos and destruction is deafening. King County now wants to do away with jails, release criminals and allow crime to occur without consequences. And now right here in Island county, we are seeing more and more violence and property crime occurring. Once again my opponent wants the Seattle-style governance to rule here. This is not the answer and as moderate Democrats, Republicans and Independents we must push back.
The right to live with liberty, freedoms, and happiness will soon be gone if we allow lawlessness to take over. As your Commissioner, I will support our police, law, and order, and especially personal property rights. If additional training is needed we do it. We need to expand the sheriff's presence on Camano Island and build a temporary holding facility there. Criminals in our society need to have repercussions. Jails and incarceration need to remain an option for criminals to protect society and uphold law and order.
Once again, think about what America you, your children, and your grandchildren want to live in. We are at a pivotal point in America. The current far-left Democrats are nothing like the Democrats of just 20 years ago. They have become the party of mobs, riots, violence, and lawlessness. It's hard for me to accept that the Democrats have abandoned our American principles, I want to bring us all together to reignite our community as Americans!
As a multi-cultural and diverse county, we can fight the divisive incursion of far left-wing policies from Seattle and Olympia, but only if we have Commissioners and other officials willing to stand up against it!
